It was great to get some direct questions and input from the fans, and we look forward to doing something like that again in the near future. There is no release date yet for the Rage record. Zack is still busy writing lyrics and will do some recording this week, but we are still a ways from being done. In the meantime, you may want to contact your Congressperson or write/fax/e-mail President Clinton regarding the latest efforts to censor music. They are attempting to scapegoat young people and the music they enjoy for the shootings in Colorado because they believe that we are an easier target than the gun lobby and other more fundamental causes of violence. We can't take our first amendment rights for granted, and have to speak out. We are very much looking forward to the upcoming shows in New York, Amsterdam, and the Far East, and we can't wait to see you all again." Check out the Chat Transcript from the recent online chat with Tom Morello. Tibetan Freedom Concert At the request of The Milarepa Fund, Rage Against The Machine played the Chicago-area Tibetan Freedom Concert on June 13 at Alpine Valley in East Troy Wisconsin, rather than the Tibetan Freedom Concert in Amsterdam as announced previously. The Alpine Valley Concert also featured performances by The Cult, Run DMC, the Beastie Boys, Blondie, Live, Biz Markie, Outkast, The Roots, bluesman Otis Rush, and Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder. Representatives of The Milarepa Fund asked Rage Against The Machine to change venues in the belief that the band's participation would help heighten awareness of Tibet. The Amsterdam Show went on as scheduled. The roster of performers included Garbage, Ben Harper, Joe Strummer & The Mescaleros, and Radiohead's Thom Yorke, among other artists. Milarepa representatives apologize to Rage fans in Amsterdam. An Amsterdam date is planned for Rage Against The Machine's next European tour.
