BLADE RUNNER 2049 ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK OUT OCTOBER 5

(October 3, 2017 – Los Angeles, CA) Alcon Sleeping Giant (ASG) Records, under exclusive distribution through Epic Records, will release the Blade Runner 2049 Original Motion Picture Soundtrack on Thursday October 5, 2017 at all digital retailers. A special D2C pre-order of the physical album is live now. A true collector’s item and piece of Blade Runner 2049 history, the 2-disc set is numbered and limited to only 2,049 copies. The soundtrack highlights the entrancing, ethereal, and enigmatic original score composed by Academy® Award winner Hans Zimmer [Inception, The Dark Knight, Gladiator, The Lion King] and Golden Globe® & Emmy® nominee Benjamin Wallfisch [It, Hidden Figures, Annabelle: Creation]. Original and classic compositions round out this sci-fi noir masterpiece. Finally, the album concludes with an original song by a GRAMMY® Award nominee. Over a backdrop of cyber-infused soul production, it delivers a hypnotic and haunting performance.

Together, Zimmer and Wallfisch sought to continue the incredible musical legacy of the original 1982 Blade Runner by Vangelis, while imparting a piece of themselves upon the score. In order to do so, they implemented vintage synths such as “the star of the score” a Yamaha CS80 from the late seventies as well as modern technological innovations, yielding a rich sonic palette wholly cognizant of this world and the vision of director Denis Villeneuve.

“First of all, I realized that Denis is a director who has a vision; he has a voice,” says Zimmer. “Remember, I’ve done a lot of movies with Ridley Scott. So, it was important that this was an autonomous piece of work. Let’s just be honest. Ridley is a hard act to follow—as is Vangelis. While Ben was four-years-old, I had actually experienced all of this,” he laughs. “We watched and literally, as we stopped watching, we decided on the palette. We decided this wasn’t going to be an orchestral thing. The story spoke to us.”

“We all know what Blade Runner feels like and what that experience is to watch this incredible masterpiece,” adds Wallfisch. The first question we asked ourselves was, ‘How can we reinvent and make it fresh and new, but still be in that world?’ The mission from the beginning was this idea of finding the heart of the film—what is its soul? When you discover the simplest possible theme, it sums up humanity almost. I feel like that’s what we were all striving for towards the beginning of the process.”

In a feature detailing the film’s Oscar potential, Variety highlighted the aural balance that Zimmer and Wallfisch achieve writing, “Zimmer and Wallfisch’s score maintains proper reverence for and distance from Vangelis’ iconic original work.”

Curious fans worldwide, who have been waiting for the official word on Blade Runner 2049’s soundtrack contents, will finally be get their wish when Zimmer and Wallfisch, GRAMMY® nominated soundtrack producer Michael Hodges and soundtrack producers Ashley Culp and Kayla Morrison unveil the track-listing and artists involved. The reveal, scheduled for October 3, 2017 via Facebook live, will feature Zimmer and Wallfisch’s behind the scenes notes on each track, plus a Q&A portion and a surprise appearance by one of the artists featured on the soundtrack.

Blade Runner 2049 is directed by Denis Villeneuve and stars Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford, Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoeks, Robin Wright, Mackenzie Davis, Carla Juri and Lennie James, Dave Bautista and Jared Leto.

Alcon Entertainment acquired the film, television and ancillary franchise rights to Blade Runner in 2011 from the late producer Bud Yorkin and Cynthia Sikes Yorkin to produce prequels and sequels to the iconic science-fiction thriller. Cynthia Sikes Yorkin is producing along with Johnson and Kosove. Bud Yorkin will receive producer credit. Additionally, Frank Giustra and Tim Gamble, CEO’s of Thunderbird Films, serve as executive producers along with Ridley Scott and Bill Carraro.

The movie opens in theaters everywhere October 6.

New York, NY (September 29, 2017) – Today, Epic/Legacy Recordings, in collaboration with The Estate of Michael Jackson, release Michael Jackson SCREAM, a collection of 13 of his all-time most electrifying and danceable tracks including Ghosts, Torture, Thriller, and Dirty Diana. The CD and collectible glow-in-the-dark 2LP vinyl (the latter available October 27) release of SCREAM contain an exclusive poster from which fans can launch the first-ever augmented reality experience created for a Michael Jackson album. The album includes the bonus track, “Blood on the Dance Floor X Dangerous,” a 5-song mashup from the acclaimed remixer The White Panda.

In addition to the new SCREAM album being released today, The Estate of Michael Jackson joined forces with world-renowned superstar producer DJ Steve Aoki to create an ‘official’ remix of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller”. ABOUT SCREAM – The immersive “Scream” AR experience is like nothing fans have seen before. Reflective of Michael Jackson’s own innovative thinking, Sony and the Estate have teamed with Shazam to make it possible for Shazam app users to just point the Shazam camera at the posters to launch the activation. It is the first time that Shazam has made an AR experience integrated with a CD or vinyl release available to its users; it also marks the very first global AR initiative for Shazam.

In addition, SCREAM billboards and posters will begin to appear in major global cities today which also include a Shazam logo that can be used to trigger a second augmented reality experience inspired by the album’s cover artwork.

Sony and the Estate worked closely with the multi-platform creative studio Flight School to create this exclusive experience which incorporates audio from the recently released SCREAM bonus track, “Blood on the Dance Floor X Dangerous.”

NEW YORK, NY (September 29, 2017) – MTV today announced worldwide music phenomenon, DJ Khaled will serve as “The Godfather” of TRL to inaugurate the hotly anticipated launch day festivities on Monday, October 2ndat 3:30 p.m. ET. He’ll raise the iconic Times Square ball alongside previously announced launch day performer Ed Sheeran, “TRL” host DC Young Fly, and social media superstar, Liza Koshy to officially kick off the show. Khaled will also make special appearances throughout the year.

The all-star “TRL” launch week line-up includes Ed Sheeran, Migos, Noah Cyrus, Playboi Carti, PRETTYMUCH, Demi Lovato, Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Yachty, Why Don’t We, Romeo Santos and Travis Scott. “TRL” will air LIVE weekdays at 3:30 p.m. ET from MTV’s newly expanded Times Square studio. The premiere will air commercial free.

“TRL” is hosted by DC Young Fly and the TRL squad which includes Tamara Dhia, Amy Pham, Erik Zachary, Lawrence Jackson and content creators such as Liza Koshy and The Dolan Twins.

“TRL” is a daily live show that will air from the network’s iconic Times Square studio and become the prime destination for youth culture and a meeting point for millions of fans. The show will bring teen passion points to life, while continuing to incorporate audience requests. “TRL” will also integrate linear, social and digital elements to include a daily pre-show on Facebook, a post-show on Facebook and YouTube, a daily live stream on Live.ly and Musical.ly, a twice-a-week pop quiz show on Musical.ly, and various “TRL” social content across Instagram, Twitter, etc.

Support from Commissioner Julie Menin and the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment was instrumental in making the return of TRL a success. The city agency issued numerous permits for the kickoff week’s Times Square activations, and helped navigate the event planning process with other city agencies, including the NYPD, the Department of Transportation and the Times Square Alliance.
