“A synth-laced, trench-coat-cinematically-billowing-as-you-run-around-the-city-streets kind indie pop. But isn’t that the sweet spot? The rub between zippy melodies and lyrics that chip away at life’s melancholic little moments.” – Noisey

“..upon hearing the pop-tinged tracks, you begin to make sense of James and Trullie’s shared knack for lyricism and songwriting.” – NYLON

..”Feral, unrelenting rock music with a hardcore glean in its eye, there’s a hint of pop in those synths which helps the medicine go down.” – Clash Magazine (UK)

SNAPCHAT, SOCIAL MEDIA GURU AND HIP-HOP MOTIVATIONAL SPEAKER, AND WE THE BEST CEO AND HITMAKER TO PUBLISH BOOK WITH CROWN ARCHETYPE

Crown Archetype, an imprint of Penguin Random House’s Crown Publishing Group, announced today that it will publish a new book by music producer and social media star DJ Khaled. Scheduled for release on November 22, 2016, THE KEYS will be released simultaneously in the United States and Canada, in print and digital formats. Crown Archetype Vice President and Editorial Director, Tricia Boczkowski, made the announcement today. Amanda Patten, Senior Editor, acquired world, electronic book, and first-serial rights from Marc Gerald at United Talent Agency and will edit the book. Khaled’s collaborator on the book will be Mary H. K. Choi.

A major force in the music industry—mogul, executive, megaproducer, and recording artist—Khaled has amassed millions of followers devoted to his inspirational, motivational, and often whimsical quotes on achieving success in life. In his ten-second snap chat self help sermons, he refers to his pieces of uniquely phrased wisdom as “keys,” using the key emoji to signify their importance.

Written in the upbeat and positive tone for which he is known, THE KEYS will offer Khaled’s philosophy for success, featuring stories from his own life as he reveals all of the major keys. Khaled will also discuss the meaning behind some of his famous catchphrases, which have become part of the cultural lexicon despite their enigmatic nature, including “another one,” “securing the bag,” “special cloth alert,” “bless up,” and more. And throughout the book will be “Mogul Talk” sidebars, featuring insight gleaned from famous friends.

Said Khaled, “THEY tried to hide the keys from me when I was coming up. Now I’ve mastered the keys and I want to let everybody know that these are keys from my perspective. This book will help you follow your vision as long as you have passion, dedication, blood, sweat and tears, and especially ignore when THEY try to bring you down. Major Key, I wish I had this book when I was coming up. This my passion pain success, blessing and more wins! We the best!

Said Boczkowski, “As Khaled himself says, ‘The key is to have all the keys.’ We are thrilled to be the book publishing partner for this social media megastar, so everyone can ride with DJ Khaled on their own journey to success.”

DJ Khaled, known as the “Anthem King” and commonly referred to as the “Quincy Jones of R&B and Hip-Hop,” has made dozens of chart-topping hit records, featuring Kanye West, Jay Z, Drake, Chris Brown, Ludacris, T.I., French Montana, Future, Big Sean, Rick Ross, and Lil Wayne, among others. Most recently, he dropped his eighth studio album, I Changed a Lot, which featured the singles “They Don’t Love You No More,” “Hold You Down,” “How Many Times,” “Gold Slugs,” and “You Mine.” The album boasts guest appearances from Jay Z, Big Sean, French Montana, and Fetty Wap, among others.

In 2007 he launched innovative label deals and started We the Best Music Group. In 2010 Khaled released the hit song “All I Do Is Win,” which went triple platinum, selling more than three million singles; crossed over all music genres to become a mainstream hit; and solidified him as a force to be reckoned with. Khaled went on to release the hit single “No New Friends,” featuring Drake, Lil Wayne, and Rick Ross, which sold over 500,000 singles worldwide, reaching gold status. DJ Khaled has sold more than 15 million singles in his career.
