KARMIN WINS ROLLING STONE'S "WOMEN WHO ROCK" COMPETITION!
DUO TO PERFORM ON DANCING WITH THE STARS OCTOBER 9TH
(New York, NY) – It’s a huge achievement for any artist to make the cover of Rolling Stone, but for Karmin, it’s doubly impressive. The editors of the venerable magazine selected them for their “Women Who Rock” competition, and Karmin’s fans voted them onto the flip cover out this Friday. Both Nick Noonan and Amy Heidmann of Karmin are featured in the magazine, but Amy alone is on the cover, making her the second female artist to be so honored this year. The portrait of Amy was shot by the acclaimed photographer Max Vadukal, who is well-known for some of Rolling Stone’s most iconic covers.
Karmin will perform at a Rolling Stone concert in honor of the Women Who Rock cover on October 16th at Hard Rock Cafe.
“We're over the moon about winning Rolling Stone's ‘Women Who Rock’ Contest,” said Karmin’s Amy Heidemann. Nick Noonan added, “It’s such a huge honor to be on the flip cover of this special issue and it wouldn't have happened without our fans. We are beyond thankful to them!”
As major as it is, the Rolling Stone cover isn’t all that Karmin has to celebrate this month. Their second single, “Hello,” hit #1 on Billboard’s Dance/ Club Play Songs chart, and their first single, “Brokenhearted” is blowing up worldwide. It’s now double platinum in Australia and platinum in Canada, and a Top 10 radio hit in Asia and the UK, where it debuted at #5 on iTunes. And, while “Hello” remains in heavy rotation on MTV, Karmin have been selected as MTV’s global PUSH artist. Additionally, they’ll perform on Dancing with the Stars October 9th.
Karmin will wrap up 2012 in style, taking part in two more events that have become American institutions: they’ll be performing on the legendary Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York, and on (Dick Clark’s) New Year’s Rockin’ Eve.
The pop duo, who released their Epic debut “Hello” earlier this year, are everywhere. They’re in Gap’s global marketing campaign for Fall, appearing in print ads and on billboards, and they’ve been all over radio, television, and the internet, where Karmin’s videos have been viewed about a half-billion times. That’s where it all started: Karmin’s initial notoriety came via the covers they posted on YouTube. But now, with their Rolling Stone victory, the word “cover” has an entirely new significance, and this time, it’s all about Karmin.
