Epic showcase performance by Cher Lloyd in NYC

The buzz was palpable. The vibe electric. Everyone eagerly waited for the show to start.

Then, to everyone’s delight, Epic Records CEO, L.A. Reid, came on stage to introduce Cher Lloyd, a former X Factor UK finalist, and his newly signed artist – who’s already had multiple hits in the U.K., and now set to conquer America.

This was Lloyd’s first music-industry showcase performance in the U.S. and from the minute she stepped at the invitation-only Canal Room venue, in New York City, we knew we were in for a treat.

In a sleeveless bright yellow jumpsuit, which showed off her ink, and an oh-so-British hat, Ms. Lloyd did not disappoint. The 18 year old singer confidently performed songs from her up and coming US debut album “Sticks + Stones”, to be released later in 2012 on Epic Records.

Among the half dozen songs she performed, her single “Want U Back” really got the crowd screaming! Even though it doesn’t go on sale until Tuesday May, 22 it seemed like the audience knew every word already. That’s because that song, along with “With Ur Love” have already become YouTube sensations. Check out Digital Spy’s review of “Want U Back” and watch the video too, which is set to become this year’s summer anthem.

Lloyd also gave her original interpretation of two other songs, Robyn’s “Dancing on My Own” and Usher’s “OMG”, to the complete delight of the crowd. And thanks to LOFT965.com you can also relive her performance of “Playa Boi” that night right here.

In fact, the audience liked Lloyd’s showcase so much that they couldn’t stop taking pictures and courtesy of our friends at Examiner here’s a few for you to admire!

Earlier today, Lloyd tweeted, “Last night was EPIC! Thanks to everyone who came, can't wait to meet more of you next time!” and also said “wish we had more tix! Madison Square Garden next time? Xx”. We definitely hope so!

Cher Lloyd is set to do a U.S. wide tour later this year, and once the dates and venues are announced we’ll be the first to let you know.
