Zipper Club Premiere New Video “Going The Distance”

“What do you get when you combine Mason James of garage rock band Cerebral Ballzy and singer-songwriter Lissy Trullie? Zipper Club, the duo’s new project, answers that question with their debut single, “Going The Distance.”

For James, Zipper Club’s mellowed-out sound and catchy hooks mark a vast departure from his raucous punk days. He sees the band as a “huge change and not a logical one”—yet upon hearing the pop-tinged tracks, you begin to make sense of James and Trullie’s shared knack for lyricism and songwriting.

Directed by James alongside Jason Hogg, the video for “Going The Distance” sets the infectious track in a desert. The camera pans in on a bright red car driven by two long-haired kidnappers who hold the members of Zipper Club hostage. The musicians are blindfolded and led through the terrain toward the inner circle of a cult.” – NYLON

Meghan Trainor Covers Billboard Magazine

Meghan Trainor is one of those famous people who still can’t believe she’s famous. So when she spots a 40-something woman lying in wait, grinning at her through the glass doors of New York’s Greenwich Hotel, she just makes a mental note. Who has time for paranoia, anyway?

“Ain’t a thing,” she says and steps outside, flanked by her publicist, manager, assistant-slash-best-friend JoJo (real name: Jordan Federman) and a single bodyguard. Then the waiting woman makes her move — a dance move.

“ ’You know I’m all about that bass, ’bout that bass!’ ” the woman sings, proudly shaking her own ass to the lyrics of Trainor’s ubiquitous curvy-girls empowerment anthem, “All About That Bass.” “I thought it was you! You go, girl! Did you lose weight? You look good!”
As soon as she’s in the car, Trainor, 22, bursts out laughing. “She scared me, looking in there and staring at me. I was like, ‘Eeeeehhhhh!’ All she wanted to do was tell me I look good! I feel like someone paid her to do that.”

Today, with vibrant red hair and wearing all-black everything, the real-life Meghan Trainor most resembles the vixen she plays, writhing around an industrial future devoid of men, in the video for “No,” the lead single from her second album, Thank You (released in May), and her fourth Billboard Hot 100 top 10 (it reached No. 3). It’s a stark contrast to the blonde, pastel-clad, oversize-bow-sporting Meghan Trainor from the ’50s time-warp video for “All About That Bass,” her breakthrough smash, which spent eight weeks leading the Hot 100. In the two short years between those hits, Trainor — who writes or co-writes her own songs — has notched two other No. 1 singles (“Lips Are Movin’ ” and “Like I’m Gonna Lose You” with John Legend), won the 2016 Grammy for best new artist and two Billboard Music Awards, and saw her debut album, Title, and Thank You debut at Nos. 1 and 3 on the Billboard 200, respectively.” – Billboard

JENNIFER HUDSON SIGNS WITH EPIC RECORDS AND BEGINS WORK ON NEW ALBUM, MARKING THE FIRST-EVER EXECUTIVE PRODUCER COLLABORATION OF LA REID & CLIVE DAVIS

(June 28, 2016 – New York, NY) – Jennifer Hudson has been signed to an exclusive contract with Epic Records, it was announced today by Epic Chairman and CEO LA Reid, following up Ms. Hudson’s historic show-stopping tribute performance of Prince’s “Purple Rain” at the 16th annual BET Awards.

Collaborating as executive producers on Ms. Hudson’s upcoming Epic Records debut will be LA Reid and Clive Davis, Chief Creative Officer, Sony Music Entertainment. This will mark the first time that LA Reid and Clive Davis have collaborated in nearly a quarter-century, since they worked together on Whitney Houston’s all-time best-selling The Bodyguard soundtrack album of 1992. At that time, Mr. Davis was President of Arista Records, and Mr. Reid headed LaFace Records and was a go-to producer with partner Kenny ‘Babyface’ Edmonds.

“Jennifer Hudson is the defining voice of this generation,” said Mr. Reid. “Her award-winning presence on records, in film, and on stage establishes her as one of the premiere artists to emerge in this century. I’m enjoying collaborating with my friend and mentor Clive Davis on Jennifer’s first Epic album and excited for her fans to hear what we’re up to…all will be revealed soon!”

“I signed Jennifer in 2007 believing her to be the strongest candidate as the next generation’s Aretha Franklin and Whitney Houston,” said Mr. Davis. “She has become that, as LA and I excitingly reunite to capture Jennifer at her all time best.”

“I couldn’t be more excited to embark on this new chapter with two of the most prolific musical legends of this generation,” said Ms. Hudson. “There is no doubt that this is just the beginning of a very special collaboration and I know that the result will be something unforgettable. I am looking forward to the creative process and sharing new music very soon!”
Multi-platinum global superstar Jennifer Hudson, whose tribute at the 54th annual Grammy Awards® in 2012 to Whitney Houston (the day after her death) was an iconic, heartbreaking, musical event, gave the BET Awards ceremony its climactic moment with “Purple Rain,” singing in front of an orchestra led by Stevie Wonder on keyboards and Tori Kelly. Adding to the occasion, Ms. Hudson was wearing the same memorable white hooded tunic that Prince wore the last time he was at the awards spectacular. See the performance HERE!

Future Wins At The 2016 BET Awards! Lights Up The Stage With Fiery Performance Of ‘Wicked’

“Future lit up the BET Awards, quite literally, with his fiery performance of “Wicked” off his Purple Reign mixtape.

Dressed in a leather jacket, shades, jeans and a bandana around his head, Future Hendrix walked through the smoky stage as flames shot up in the background. The appearance was without bells and whistles—there were no guest artists, or songs other than the one at hand—and Future kept a strictly one-track mind.

Earlier in the night, Future came to the stage to accept the award for Best Group on behalf of himself and Drake for their collaborative album What a Time to Be Alive. He most recently was heavily featured on DJ Esco’s mixtape Project E.T.: Esco Terrestrial, which also included guest appearances from Young Thug, Juicy J, Rich Homie Quan, and more”. – Rap-Up
