Something old collides with something new in the daring modern fairy tale, Pleasantville -- and on its instantly memorable soundtrack album. Multi-platinum singer/songwriter Fiona Apple meets Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly and a stellar group of classic artists in a compilation that's as much fun as the movie itself.
Grammy award winning Apple brings her unique, spellbinding interpretation to John Lennon and Paul McCartney's, "Across the Universe," whose accompanying video will be directed by Paul Thomas Anderson (Boogie Nights) as well as Percy Mayfield's, "Please Send Me Someone To Love." Grammy winner Randy Newman composed the score suite, while a who's who of legendary musicians comprise the rest of the '50s-flavored disc. Presley's "(Let Me Be Your) Teddy Bear," Holly's "Rave On," Gene Vincent's "Be-Bop-A-Lula," "Lawdy Miss Clawdy" by Larry Williams and "Sixty Minute Man" by Billy Ward & the Dominoes represent the birth of rock n' roll, while the Dave Brubeck Quartet classic, "Take Five," Miles Davis' "So What" and Etta James' "At Last" bring a jazz flavor to the mix.
