WRABEL RELEASES NEW SINGLE AND VIDEO FOR “THE VILLAGE” IN WAKE OF TRANS MILITARY BAN
PENS MOVING AND HEARTFELT LETTER

(August 1, 2017 – Los Angeles, CA) Tired of staying silent in the face of oppression and injustice, critically acclaimed singer-songwriter Wrabel bravely speaks out with his new song “The Village,” accompanied by an impactful video created in partnership with Spotify. Featuring trans actor August Aiden, the emotional video directed by Dano Cerny gives insight into the difficult experience known all too well to the trans community. Listen to “The Village” HERE and watch HERE.

A stunning anthem of protest, Wrabel holds nothing back and takes a stand with one of his most heartfelt and heavy compositions to date. It’s politically minded. It’s passionate. It’s powerful. It’s purely necessary in these times.

In addition, he penned an open letter regarding “The Village”. You can find it enclosed below.

Letter re: “The Village”

i wrote this song on february 23rd. the day after trump took away federal protections for trans students in public schools. today i release it, just days after he tweeted to ban trans people from serving in the military.

i just wanted to write a simple song letting anyone that feels like an outsider know that the problem isn’t you, it’s them. it’s the village. not in an aggressive us vs. them way, but just because you are the minority… just because people whisper “freak” when u walk down the hall… all of these things… it’s so hard out there… i know it is. these things aren’t pointing towards something wrong with YOU they’re pointing to a humongous problem with the majority… the “them”. there’s nothing wrong with you, there’s something wrong with the village.

two of my biggest supporters are trans teenagers. i’ve had the chance to meet their families. to get to know them. to hear about their struggles and dreams. hi. if you guys are reading this, i need to say thank you. thank you for being YOU. thank you for being honest and courageous and bold and vulnerable and transparent and true. you inspire me to be myself. you inspire me to be fearless in my self expression. my heart breaks for you. what this man is saying and doing. it has to stop. he is giving the village permission to hate. to look at those who are different as wrong and lesser than. i don’t know how else to raise my voice than in a song. and so, i wrote a song for you.

i came out as gay at around 23. i grew up in the church. i came out into a church in los angeles that called it “same sex attraction”. it was wrong. i was wrong. it was evil. i was evil. “unnatural” they called it. “unnatural” they called me. i can’t pretend like i know what it’s like to be trans. to feel those feelings and know those struggles. all i can do is try to speak up and try to relate.

there’s nothing wrong with you, there’s something wrong with the village.

Join Wrabel as he stands up for change and speaks out.

Working with some long time partners, new powerhouse producers and DJs such as The Stereotypes, Skrillex, Poo Bear, Monsters and Strangerz, Ester Dean, Ammo & Dallas K, Dreamlab, Harmony Samuels, Tommy Brown and Sebastian Kole, Fifth Harmony promises an album packed with energy, passion, and show-stopping vocals. Their second single “All In My Head (Flex)” is certified platinum, while their latest single “That’s My Girl” was another top 40 radio hit. The group’s accomplishments on the charts added to an award-winning 2016, with first-time wins at the American Music Awards, iHeartRadio Music Awards, People’s Choice Awards & Much Music Video Awards, their second win at the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards, two wins at the MTV Video Music Awards & Radio Disney Music Awards and three wins at the Teen Choice Awards. One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson Signs With Epic Records

Call it fifth and final: One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson has landed at Epic Records, joining a roster that includes DJ Khaled, Fifth Harmony, and French Montana. The singer’s deal comes via Simon Cowell’s Syco Records, which, like Epic, falls under the Sony Music umbrella.

Fellow 1D members Harry Styles and Zayn Malik are also signed to Sony — Columbia Records and RCA Records, respectively — while Niall Horan and Liam Payne are Universal Music Group artists (Capitol and Republic, respectively). It had previously been reported that Tomlinson would end up at RCA, but when Epic Records president Sylvia Rhone heard Tomlinson’s music — in particular the song “Back To You” featuring Bebe Rexha — she campaigned for the project.

Now, Rhone tells Variety, “We are beyond delighted to have Louis Tomlinson as an artist,” adding that his new music “is the perfect bridge from his past to his future, and we are just as excited as the fans to experience his journey and growth.”

“Back To You” is slated for release on July 21. Earlier this year, Tomlinson was featured on the Steve Aoki track “Just Hold On.”

One Direction is the rare boy band to have launched successful solo careers for multiple members. Styles, who stars in the Christopher Nolan film “Dunkirk,” hitting theaters July 21, released a critically acclaimed debut in May; Horan saw his understated “This Town” reach No. 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 in January, and now has “Slow Hands” climbing; Liam Payne’s “Strip That Down” is No. 23 on the Buzz Angle Top Songs chart; and Malik reached No. 1 on the Hot 100 in Feb. 2016 with “Pillowtalk,” and his collaboration with Taylor Swift, “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever,” peaked at No. 10 in March.

Epic has also seen an impressive string of radio hits in recent weeks, with Khaled currently occupying two spots in the Top 5 — “I’m the One,” (feat. Justin Bieber, Quavo, Chance the Rapper, & Lil Wayne), and “Wild Thoughts” featuring Rihanna and Bryson Tiller — and French Montana exploding with “Unforgettable” (feat. Swae Lee).

DJ Khaled Spends Second Week at No. 1 on Billboard Top 200!

DJ Khaled’s Grateful notches a second week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart — it is the first album to spend more than one week at No. 1 in two months. In the week ending July 6, Grateful earned 70,000 equivalent album units (down 53 percent), according to Nielsen Music. Traditional album sales comprised 16,000 (down 68 percent) of that sum.

DJ Khaled’s Grateful finished its second week stronger than expected, as some industry forecasters had suggested the album would earn around 60,000 units for the week. The album continues to be supported largely by streams, as it tallied 42,000 SEA units — down 48 percent — equaling 63.4 million on-demand audio streams for the album’s songs. Grateful also earned 12,000 TEA units for the week (down 36 percent). Read the full article via BILLBOARD HERE
